Ottoman silver Islamic prayer box amulet.Traditionally prayer boxes contained a scroll of scared texts to act as a talisman. This container does not open. It is meant for ornamental jewelry. Niello design. Niello is a black compound of silver sulfur and other metals used like enamel. 3 rings on top to use as bails. 2 rings on bottom to hang coins or charms. From a collector's estate. 2.15 inches in length by .6 inches in diameter. Excellent condition.
