Old Chinese opaque mauve color wound glass bead. 20-21mm. 4mm holes. These beads are quite rare, and were imported in the 1920s.
This type of bead is popularly but inaccurately called Peking glass, but is not true Peking glass. These have the soft color and bubbles of old Chinese glass beads that mimicked gemstone colors. These beads are said to have been made in Boshan, Shandong provice of China. The color of this bead is particularly hard to find. Before 1911, a finer version of beads of this type were used in Mandarin Court jewelry.
We are very excited to have acquired these gorgeous beads. These are very difficult to find and we have limited quantities. Sold individually
