Details

A splendid necklace featuring a set of rare graduated lampwork spun glass beads from Bohemian Gablonz. Czechoslovakia. These beads are from an uncertain date, possibly late 1800s to the 1920's. These beads range from 10mm diameter to 18mm.  They are individually knotted on silk cord with a vintage etched silver metal spring clasp.  Necklace is 25 inches in length with 47 beads.

We purchased these beads during a trip several years ago in the town of Jablonec nad Nisou, formerly known as Gablonz before WWII so we couldn't be more certain of their origin!  These spun glass beads were made by a lampwork process reducing glass to thin threads and then spinning into a bead.  This was a Venetian style but was produced in Bohemia starting in the early 19th century.  These beads were likely made in the 1920s.
