Vintage carnelian bead 7 inch strand of 8 beads.  Hand cut, 3-sided ovals.  Beads are 19-22mm long and 10.5-11mm wide.  Stringing hole is 2mm.  These beads are a  lovely natural orangey color with varying opacities.  These beads are from India and were called Beggar Beads. In the 1960s and 1970s they were available in strands of many shapes, sizes and colors of jasper, agate, carnelian, bloodstone and chalcedony.
