Earrings made from excavated Roman era glass shard beads with irridescent burial patina. They hang from sterling silver shepherds hook ear wires and a selection of silver and white pearls and silver akoya keshi. Earrings measure 1 5/8 inches from top of earwires, approximately 1/2 inch wide.

This roman era glass has been excavated from the ancient Greco-Bactrian Kingdom which is now modern day Afghanistan. During the 1st century AD, rapid technical growth saw the introduction of glass blowing and the dominance of "colorless" or "aqua" glass which as you can imagine, was very expensive. The patina on the glass forms over many years and shows as a deposit on the glass, causing irridescence.
