Antique Meiji period Japanese Satsuma pendant. The pottery is set in gold washed sterling silver. Silver bail at the top of the back. It has the characteristic cream color and fine crackle in the glaze. The hand painting is very fine depicting a vine with flowers in bloom, done in gold enamel with red, blue and purple. Solid border of gold enamel. 1 7/8 inches diameter. (48mm). Just under 1/2 inch (11.2mm) in thickness. It has the characteristic Satsuma chop on the back. Very good antique condition.
Slip a ribbon or a chain into the bail and its ready to wear.
