Ornate silver-plated sewing chatelaine with five attachments, English, circa 1890. This elegant chatelaine features a silver-plated finish from the late 19th century. The open filigree waist plaque is beautifully detailed with faces, griffins, scrolls, and ram's heads. The matching silver link chains have similar decorative elements and spring clips at the ends. Included tools are a thimble bucket, a disc-style pin cushion, an aide-mémoire (notebook) with three ivory pages, and a pencil, all showcasing intricate repoussé designs. The chatelaine and its attachments are in excellent condition, with no dents or damage. The clip is sturdy and retains its original hinge. The overall length of the chatelaine is 11 inches, and the waist plaque measures 2.5 x 2.5 inches, weighing 144 grams. The clip bears the "EPNS" mark for Electro Plated Nickel Silver and features a crown, indicating it was produced before 1897, as this mark was prohibited on silver-plated items afterward due to its similarity to the Sheffield assay mark for sterling silver.
