An antique early 20th century symbolic lock made of repousse coin silver . This is an expertly made lock; The seams at the sizes are invisible and smooth. On the front are Foo Lions, money symbol, ornamental design, and engraved letters. On the other side are Chinese flags with 1911 design, and two sets of crossed swords. The lock is scallop shape, 1.5 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Dangling from the lock are two hollow silver ornamental drops, one of flowers, one of bats. The middle dangle is a beautiful carved carnelian flower set in fine filigree. Length of lock including dangles are 3 inches. Silver bat hooks connect the lock to the chains of beads and silver. There are beads of carnelian, wood and turquoise. The silver chain attaches to the bead chains with small hooks, about 23" long. 54 grams.

The Qing Dynasty was the final imperial dynasty in China, lasting from 1644 to 1912. This silver lock likely dates to the late 19th century or the first decade of the 20th century. Components like this lock were remade by the Chinese in the early 20th century to jewelry for western tastes.
