Detailed in loops and spirals of finely wrought silver wire filigree with granulation, in the frame of this lovely pendant is a painted cameo of Saint Fabiola in profile on a dark backgrounLd. It is hand painted, measures 1.5inches tall and 1.25inches wide, stamped with 800. The pendant hangs from a fine 18 inch sterling silver chain with a spring ring clasp. Saint Fabiola was a 4th century nurse and Roman matron of rank of the company of noble Roman women who, under the influence of the Church father St. Jerome gave up all earthly pleasures and devoted themselves to the practice of Christian asceticism and charitable work
