Beautiful and rare old Chinese fluted glass melon beads. 10-11mm average with 2mm hole. Package of 5. Each bead is hand made and therefore will and vary slightly in size, shape and number of flutes/grooves; this adds to the unique and genuine quality and beauty of the item. Early Deco Period, c. 1920s. The collection came with the label China Trading Company, Seattle. These beads are popularly called Peking glass but are not true Peking glass. These have the soft colors and bubbles of old Chinese glass. Before 1911, a finer version of the beads of this type were used in Mandarin Court jewelry.
