Victorian gentleman's 3 tier goldstone fob and silver metal watch chai
Late Victorian gentleman's pocket watch fob with 3 graduated flat Goldstone horizontally placed ovals set in silver metal. The chain is silver metal with both a trouser and swivel clasp. The two clasps are gold filled. The fob is 1-1/4" at the widest x 3" long. Chains are 5-1/4". c. 1900. Goldstone is a type of glass that contains tiny crystals of glittering metallic copper. It seems that similar glass was produced in the ancient world but in Europe it was rediscoved in 17th century Venice and used for bead making and jewelry thereafcter.
