Hobe has been in business since the late 1800s; a name rich in jewelry history that seems to be a family tradition. This hand built layered silver piece is a fine example of the naturalistic arts & crafts tradition of the late 19th and early 20th century. The elements of vine, leaf, berry and flower are strikingly life-like and are layered as if the pendant grew organically instead of being forged from silver. The use of silver and glass stones together is very typical of this period; some of the finest pieces of arts & crafts jewelry are made from silver and glass. The pendant is in good condition with only tiny flea-bites to the glass sapphire.
