Jadeite pendant necklace featuring a wonderful carved jade cameo depicting two mice eating fruit from a vine. The mouse atop the pendant is also carved on the back side with the remainder of the vine running down the back. The pendant was carved from a block of green and white jadeite in which the carver was able to carve the bottom mouse and fruit in relief from the background. The pendant measures 1-3/4 inches x 1-3/8 inches. The pendant is strung with 9-10 mm jade beads in a gradient going from green to white, matching the colors in the pendant. Small nephrite jade beads act as spacers between the jadeite beads. Sterling silver push-in clasp. 30 inches circumference. This type of carving is rarely seen in jadeite and more often seen in extremely artistic hardstone cameos from the Roman era forward. Undoubtedly this was a special artistic piece from a master carver. This pendant was purchased for us by a friend during a bead and jewelry treasure hunting trip in China and we were so please to present it in this lovely necklace. A one-of-a-kind!
