Luscious butterscotch and eggyolk colored amber, mottled and swirled; to call it opaque would be ignoring the depth and subtlety of the partially blended colors in this vintage genuine Baltic Amber necklace. The oval size graduated beads are knotted on golden colored thread and are terminated with a gold plated spring ring clasp. Beads range from 12 to 23mm. Necklace is 28 inches long. The amber is light and warm on the wearer, unlike heavy cold glass beads. Besides emphasizing the wearers beauty, it is a pleasure to wear. Amber is fossilized tree resin between 320 to 90 million years old. Often transparent or heated to produce “sun spangles” this amber is naturally opaque to semi-translucent and is unheated, untreated and completely natural. Its original owner purchased it sometime between 1910 - 1920s. 42 gram weight.
