Details

Antique Qing dynasty coin-silver hollow two-sided pendant with repousse butterfly or moth on one side and floral design on the other. Dangling from the pendant are 2 silver peach charms and a carnelian bead. The pendant is 50x38x6mm. Total length of pendant is 99mm or 3.9 inches. This piece has intricate repousse work and chasing.
Extensive ornamental detail. The pendant has a subtle gilt finish. There are two closed jump rings at the top for stringing.

This is an antique piece from the dynasty that fell in 1911. In the 1970s to the mid 1980s, Chinese workers added beads, cords and chains to these Qing Dynasty artifacts. The components of this pendant would have been parts of larger ritual or ceremonial pieces during the dynasty period. For the most part the beads and knots attached to this amulet were added during this period. This piece came from the estate of a dealer who acquired many of these artifacts. They have become increasingly rare and today, some reproductions of much poorer quality are being produced.
