Antique Qing dynasty coin-silver Dragonfish pendant with carnelian bead, silver dangles, chain and ring. The long Dragonfish body is wonderfully depicted with tiny coils tightly wrapped around a curved rigid core, resembling fish scales.  The head and fin are made of shaped sheet silver with applied wire. A filigree connector sits atop the piece and attaches  a lotus flower that connects both ends of the chain.  This piece may have originally been one of a pair of large earrings popular with regional minority women. 4.25" x 1.5"

This is an antique piece from the dynasty that fell in 1911. In the 1970s to the mid 1980s, Chinese workers added beads, cords and chains to these Qing Dynasty artifacts. For the most part the beads  attached to this piece were added during this period. This piece came from the estate of a dealer who acquired many of these artifacts. They have become increasingly rare and today, some reproductions of much poorer quality are being produced.
