Antique Chinese silver needle case. Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Probably crafted in the 19th century. Shaped as an urn or vase. Attached to an ornate chatelaine clip. Has a large carnelian bead at the bottom that functions well as a counterweight. The vase has very fine repoussé work. One side is a foliar design with a bird; other side depicts a rat stealing grapes. Case is 2-3/8 inches x 1-1/8 inches;x 1 inch;. Chain is 5 1/2 inches; with chatelaine clip. . Needle case has a lovely patina.
