A stunning parure consisting of a fringed necklace, bracelet and earrings made of brass filigree, beads and stamped links and turquoise and coral faience beads in the Egyptian style. Circa 1925 - 1930. Egyptian style was all the rage after the discovery of King Tut's tomb in the early 1920s and if you like Egyptian Revival, it doesn't get much better than this! I have seen this set in my reference books so I was thrilled to acquire it. The necklace consists of stamped brass links at the top of the collar with alternating rows of turquoise and coral faience cylinder beads. Small brass beads dangle at the end. 15 inches with 2.5 inch fringe. The bracelet has 12 strands of beads with links that match the necklace. The pin closure is surrounded by beautiful brass filigree. 7 inches x 1.75 inches. The earrings have columns of matching fringe dangling from flat back clip-on filigree half dome. Total length 2.5 inches. This set is in extraordinary condition for its age, not one bead missing, no corrosion or verdigris. And the beads appear to be both glass and faience, the same beads used by the ancient Egyptians with gilded brass that resembles the high karat gold the Egyptians used. Having seen much ancient Egyptian jewelry in museums, I think the maker of this gorgeous set did an excellent job in mimicking the real thing.
