Antique Victorian Woven Hair and 14k gold memorial brooch. pnvc656

A an encasement of gold and black enamel surround this beautifully rendered memorial brooch dating from the 1870s. The hair is woven in a basket weave under the central medallion and surrounds the edges of the pin in in little pillows. This pin is in excellent condition with a minimum of fraying as its been lovingly keep in the family until now. It  has belonged to a woman whose great grandmother was one of 3 sisters who, upon their mother's death, had 3 memorial brooches made with their mother's hair. This is one of the 3 brooches. 1.25 x 1.50 inches.
