This long and massive necklace is probably from one of the nomadic tribes of Arghanistan or Turkmanistan. There is a central pendant with inscribed calligraphy on the front with floral and boteh (paisley) motifs. The central pendant measures .2-7/8 x 3-3/8 inches. The back is flat and smooth. There are two tubular scroll holders which open for storing a prayer scroll or a calligraphic talisman These are 3-1/8 inches in length. . One lacks one of its endcap and is filled with a red cotton fabric. I have left it as I found it. There is one small incense holder with a cap. there are two rectangular Koran holders that each measure 1-1/4 x 7/8 inches. These are open at one end. The necklace has many hollow botah charms attached to both sides of the chain that float freely. Additionally there is one incense holder with a cap. The chain is sturdy and finely made, flat with triple links attached to round floral shaped links and is 35 inches in length and 1/2 inch at the widest. The silver content tests at .84 to .925.
