This stunning late 18th Century ovoid-shaped double belt buckle is carved from translucent pale green celadon Nephrite, giving it a waxy luster. The motifs depict the PEONY, known as the “King of Flowers” in China. It is joined by a hook carved with the head of a dragon. Both sides feature a single peony, with a dragon’s head in the center. The peony is the national flower of China, and symbolizes peace. The back has round buttons that fit into buttonholes in the belt. dimension: 4 ½ inches by 2.00 inches, and 1.00 inch tall; condition: excellent; no fractures or inclusions; no treatment.
