A beautiful necklace recreated using Neiger Brothers beads and other vintage beads, based on a classic Neiger Brothers design. It features ivory-colored pressed uranium glass beads with brown decor that glow green under black light. The necklace measures a generous 36 inches in circumference and does not have a clasp. The Neiger Brothers were born in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia in the late 1800s. Around 1905, they started a jewelry company together, creating pieces that used Czech glass beads, filigree findings, and fancy bead caps. When King Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered in 1922, it sparked the Egyptian Revival craze, which their jewelry reflected. They also incorporated exotic elements from Chinese and Indian art into their designs. With the start of the war and the invasion of Czechoslovakia, the brothers fled to Bohemia, where they set up a smaller workshop. Tragically, they were arrested in Prague in 1942 and sent to Auschwitz. Today, their jewelry is highly collectible, and their remarkable talent lives on through their designs and legacy.
