Vintage Persian painted enamel silver metal oval link necklace and matching screw back earrings. A double chain with 11 enameled metal oval panels The enameled metal oval is set like a stone in a simple bezel onto the link. The enamel work is very fine and intricate. Depicted are birds, flowers and landscapes. This type of Persian enamel painting has a long history in Persia but sadly is becoming a thing of the past. Since the creation of the Islamic Republic in Iran figural painting is generally banned and these pieces are becoming increasingly rare. Each panel measures 3/4 x 3/8 inches. The necklace is 18 inches in length. The earrings are simple screw backs with matching panels.
