Earthly Adornments - pdvc175-Silver German Nativity Scene Pendant dated 1848

This pendant in amazing in both its detail and level of preservation. Delicate filigree paisley patterns and flowers surround a detailed medallion of Mary holding the infant Jesus surrounded by Joseph and the three wise men. The brick wall and thatch roof of the manger surround the figures and add a three dimensional quality. The back of the pendant is inscribed in German with the words “Fur Erinnering um 1st Sept. 1848 von Christine Puff”. There is a small mark on the back of the pendant that looks like a circle with a cross in the center. The pendant includes a matching bail which is also crafted in filigree. A fabulous piece.
