Carved in white nephrite jade, this large pendant depicts a moth in flight, a favorite theme of Chinese jade carvers. Both sides of each wing is incised with radiating lines and cross-hatching giving subtle depth and detail the polished white jade surface. The jade is 8mm thick and as been pierced by the carver many times; this makes the pendant perfect for a variety of jewelry projects especially a design that combines the pendant with multiple strands of beads threaded through the jade. At the very top is a small fragment of the original vintage silk cord.
