Earthly Adornments - pdja711-Carved Chinese aventurine gourd and lotus pendant

This lovely carved pendant depicts two very important and positive Chinese symbols, the Gourd and the Lotus. According to Chinese tradition, two gourds together (like in this pendant which has a gourd front and back) symbolizes a microcosm containing heaven and earth. The lotus is a symbol of purity and perfection, and an emblem of summer and fruitfulness. It is one of the Eight Treasures of Buddhism. The pendant is carved skillfully from a large piece of natural aventurine 5x3.5cm and is suspended from a 10kt gold wire bail.
