fbed101-Edwardian gentleman's gilt over brass ribbon fob

Fobs using grosgrain ribbon as the connector between a monogrammed seal (in the case of this fob the letters H J have been engraved on the bottom) were very popular in the Edwardian era. This fob is ornate and has art nouveau swirls and embellishments. The top of the fob that would have attached to the breast pocket is quite unusual; flip down a small lever in the back and the clasp opens smoothly; click it down and it firmly grasps the pocket! So unusual! There is a chain with a catch on it that was meant to be used to attach a watch or perhaps a fraternal charm. The catch is working condition. The ribbon needs to be replaced; you can find grosgrain at any fabric store today. 160x27mm
