Earthly Adornments - btvc238-Victorian saphiret glass cuff links

19th century saphiret glass rolled gold cufflinks. These stones are gorgeous, cool blue with flashes of gold. Very hard to capture in the photo. Saphiret glass was a very popular Gablonz bijouterie glass created in the 19th century. Its bi-colored appearance results from gold, which is added as an ingredient to a basic sapphire blue glass. In the second half of the 19th century, there are references to saphiret glass which fetched higher prices than gold-ruby. Stones are 11x16mm and the cufflinks are 20mm in length.
