Helpful Guides and Charts for Jewelry & Beads

All of the African and Asian ivory sold by us is pre-ban worked ivory, the majority of it being personally inherited stock (see About Us) that was acquired in the 1960s through the early 1980s. On several rare occasions I have purchased old stock from a domestic source that was accompanied by documentation of its age and origin. In these instances, the items were also inheirited stock from well before the ban. We do not purchase ivory for resale outside of such rare and special circumstances. We are aware that ivory objects are being smuggled into the US today, that this illegal activity contributes to elephant poaching to which we are strongly opposed.

All of our ivory must be sold in accordance with Federal Laws & Regulations set forth by the United States Fish & Wildlife Service. It is illegal to export ivory, either by shipment or personal transport outside of the United States. We do not make any sales outside of the United States.

We have strong convictions regarding the protection of wildlife. By selling only old collections of ivory within the United States we are assured that, by the UN Council on Trade in Endangered Species Products (C.I.T.E.S.) that our limited trade of old and pre-ban ivory has not harmed existing wildlife populations. In 1989, nation members of C.I.T.E.S. banned the international trade in African elephant ivory. We are in favor of C.I.T.E.S and related laws and rulings to protect elephants and all wildlife.
